Let me clarify if it looks like the person actually uses their Jeep to off-road then I will wave, otherwise my hand just gets tired.

Seems like a fun little in-group thing.

This is possible, and technically it is a GPW. But, it is hard to imagine someone not recognizing that this is a jeep (internet photo, not mine)

You don't have a Jeep, you have a Chrysler.
Uh, a Chrysler is a few steps higher than a Rambler, dude.

Maybe your fancy assed self should go get an original Willys.

agree, when I lived in FL there was an old retired Army one star that lived in our neighborhood and he had that jeep, with his little one star flag and a set of bull horns mounted on the front

Can anyone explain to me this appeal of Jeeps?

Well, they are not a cookie cutter SUV or sedan or god forbid truck with nuts.

You can feel the air with top down and the bumps in the road

quote:

Do they ride well?

The 4 door ride pretty well and if you change out suspension can really be smooth.

quote:

Are they reliable?

As reliable as any other vehicle made today in America. Good news though, they are pretty easy to work on. Any capable person can do basic to advanced maintenance work on it.

quote:

Fuel efficient?

The same as any large truck or SUV.

quote:

Fast?

Acceleration or Top speed? Acceleration wise they are as fast as POS 4 cylinder cars. 392 Jeep can hit 60 4.2 seconds, hybrid Jeep can hit 60 in 6 seconds.

My JKU with 37" tires and 4.88 gears can cruise easy 80mph in 6th gear and pass 100mph.

Something missed is resale and loss of value. They do not lose value like every other vehicle out there.

I got a 2017 last April. To me, it's just a convertible SUV. I don't want to customize mine, lift, it, put big tires on it, etc. I wanted something to take the top off and roll the windows down on nice days. I really wanted one as a third car that I could just keep the top off and hop in when the weather was good, but wife convinced me to get one for my daily driver when I got rid of my F-150. They're not comfortable on interstate, especially Louisiana interstate, but they're fun around town. Yes, I wave (although this seems like a dying trend). Yes, I've been ducked- I don't really care, but my daughter thinks it's cool. No, I don't duck in return.

ETA: It is fun to listen to 90’s country and alternative rock with the top down and pretend I’m 19 again The Alpine Premium Sound is pretty legit

Well shite Chris. I was hoping to take you up to the ORV in Hot Springs. I guess I’ll have to take someone less cool like Owlie.

I’m the a-hole of the thread. I own a 71 Bronco. I won’t even acknowledge a Jeep while on the road. Lol. They are below me in the status level
Jeep owners kicked all this up when the new Broncos come on the scene.

That being said the duck thing is silly, but hey you gotta enjoy something these days They are cool rides that you can modify a lot.

New Broncos suck.

The demand for used Jeeps is incredible. The older the better, and the more expensive.

Jeeps are highly modifiable. There is a giant after-market industry that allows a person to build his unique version of the offroader. For fun, status or serious offroading, nothing beats a Jeep for sheer enjoyment.

I get ducked from time to time. really not my thing and I don't do it in return.

as far as resale goes. Mine got totaled 5 weeks ago. I paid 30 for it back in late 13 brand new. I got my check yesterday for 28300.00 I came out great. I bought a 2018 JLU sahara.

You ask the same thing about 95% of truck owners.

I think getting a duck from someone means they like your jeep. I don't know, call me an old fart but I think its fun. The pic with all those ducks is fricking retarded but I've driven through a jeep festival in Mississippi once and most had ducks in windows and people were giving others ducks. Is it stupid? Probably? But I think its pretty fun in a good way. The world sucks and if this makes people smile, then so be it.

A Jeep baw lives for ducking other Jeep baws over and over. They do their little finger wave and then meet up for some heavy ducking.
