Nothing enrages me more about MLB The Show than online play

It’s so fricking rigged it’s unreal. Good to perfect swing timing every time and all you get is fricking ground outs and fly outs.
Meanwhile, your opponent can’t get a hit to save their lives except for that very late timing home run to right field.

This made me quit after 18.
The talent gap had gotten too large and they were losing players. They changed it by introducing more scripted outcomes.

Because they give different options for hitting and pitching, it feels like they try to manipulate outcomes more than they should by increasing hit rates in some situations and decreasing them in others to create a more competitive game.
i don’t know if you can anymore but one could’ve said the same thing about Madden’s online fumbling issue back in the day. You knew if you were up 10 and driving that a fumble was in the works.

I can’t remember the last year I bought Madden because online play had gotten so bad and predictable.
The Show is trending that way. DD is a clusterfrick and an obvious pay to win model, franchise is a shell of what it was, and road to the show has become a chore you can’t have success on without buying equipment.

The Show, like all sports games, have become glorified card collecting games with their ridiculous fake team, online modes.
They completely ruined RTTS by tying it in with DD. And franchise hasn’t been touched in a meaningful way in years.
I guarantee NCAA is going to suck because of all the attention paid to whatever their version of Ultimate Team will be.

Yeah no way in hell there won't be similar for NCAA. I will say it would be cool if you could buy team packs and directly support your school or players you get somehow.
Like say LSU QB has a 400 yard 4 TD game and they release a limited edition card with enhanced stats and if you buy it for $10 half of that goes to the player or something. Similar to buying merch.

No. There should be absolutely no “card packs” or any kind of micro transactions.
Even giving leeway to this is what opened the door to the state of what we have now.
