For the past three and a half days I have listened to people purport to be a bigger tiger fan than everyone else for staying in the stadium Saturday afternoon. In that span, I have seen "true" tiger fans referring to those who left as losers, a-holes, and all other manner of vulgarities. I personally have been told to jump off a cliff for my belief that it is okay to leave when you are no longer enjoying yourself.

So, the question is, if a "true" tiger fan is one who curses, screams, and condemns to death those who don't do what "true" fans believe a "true" fan would do, who in their right mind would want to be a "true" tiger fan when it means you basically lose all scope of human decency?

i am sick and tired of hearing about who is and isn't a "true" tiger fan.

i am in my mid 30's and was basically raised in tiger stadium. my grandfather had tickets for 25+ years and he would sit in those stands regardless if there was a hurricane and i would sit right by him. he died in 2001 and i inherited his tickets. i kept them until a couple of years ago when it was no longer financially feasable for me to continue especially when tv games are free.

did i leave early for some games after he was gone? damn skippy. i didn't leave early during the uab game and i should have so don't give me any of that crap.

am i less of a tiger fan b/c i gave up the tickets? no. it never rains in tiger stadium my arse. i'll tell you where it never rains, my couch. where it's always 72 degrees, i can drink beer, eat free food, i am never too far away from the can, don't have to stand in line and i never have to fight traffic.

the bottom line is don't tell me what to do with my time or money. we were all raised loving our tigers so trying to see who is more loyal is ridiculous. we are all loyal even when we get upset that they play terribly. as a matter of a fact, the people who bitch, leave early, moan and complain are probably the bigger fans b/c they take it to heart. they would rather lose their old lady than have the tigers lose.

i'll tell you one that you will never top though. my grandpa. from being a sharecropper in mississippi, to WW2, through the hallman years, sitting in the stands to the last second when we were down by 50 b/c "you never under estimate the tigers, boy", to dying a few years shy of what he wanted more than anything, to see his tigers when a championship. not one of you bitches out there can even come close to him.

so don't give me that crap about being a "true" tiger fan.

you still have morons on here that think one is not a "true" tiger fan if they do not go to the games .. so there are only 92,000 "true" tiger fans in louisiana ?? i can guarantee you that 30 percent of the people sitting in the stadium are there to be seen and for the tailgating and don't know a first down from a safety ..

You give way too much to what others say. Why do you care what others definition is? If you paid your money you certainly have the right to leave or stay as you wish.

You are absolutely right, giving credence to those who feel this way is silly, but it is also a bit aggravating. You disagree with someone's choice, that is one thing. You drop to the level of cursing and wishing harm to those who left is another. I think that those people should be ashamed of their behavior and attitude in this regard.

It is your business if you decide to leave early. It is your business if you are a bandwagon fan.

All the frustration comes from the fact that the TS was almost naked of purple and gold at the end of the GA game, combined with our qb, combined with our D, combined with the loss to the gators & bulldawgz, combined with the national media wanting us to fail, simply = we look like a total arse to all of the CF world.

My advice to all...take all the talk with a grain of salt. Our Tigers will be just fine, and all those SOB's who talked shite when we were down, will be licking our arse's in a couple of years.

stay the whole game and support your team. Winning or losing. It has to affect the players morale to watch the stadium clear. Its your business if you stay or not, but it does say something about you.

agreed.
if there is something more important than staying for the whole game...that DOES say something about you. Funny how the criticism manages to bother a few of em...wonder why? Everyone wants to be a "diehard" without puttin in the time and effort and making a few sacrifices.

Hahaha. Players could give a frick about you. Stay if you want to stay. Leave if you want to leave. You paid for the tickets so enjoy them however you like. If the players are looking around the stadium to see how many people left early, then they really need a head check.

Flame away.

I think there's just semantics being thrown around here. We all hurt when they lose, we all are elated when they win.

Some more (and a lot more) than others in both cases.

"Fan" is short for FANATIC.

If you leave early, you could be so much of a FANATIC that you feel sick to your stomach and will easily throw up if you you watch anymore. (see '90-'96)

Getting angry and calling out other paying Tiger observers out for leaving at their leisure is not going to change them.

Nobody bitches when LSU is up by 30 with 8 minutes to go and half the stadium heads out.

Losing to Fla. and Georgia and never really being in the game is hard to take. Nobody, including me is hopeful for any true elation this year. That hurts.

Having a chance to win 2 back to back BCSCG is a big hairy deal in my opinion. It won't happen this year and that's that.

Alabama is our bowl game this year. One more chance at respect. Let's pull it together, try to have a good tailgate and ruin Bama's year...without turning on each other.
