I am sick of seeing people freak out because Rueben Randle is considering Alabama. Chill. Even if he decides to go there, what does it really mean? Does the fact that Patrick Peterson chose LSU over Florida mean that Florida can't recruit anymore? Does the fact that Russell Sheppard chose LSU over Texas mean that Texas won't get great players?

Sometimes when you have been on top for several years some top guys want to be different and go out of state. It happens. We get top guys from other states and it doesn't mean that Florida, Texas, or Georgia are falling apart.

We've got Andre Debose practically committed and we are freaking out about whether or not Randle goes to Alabama. Sure, I want Randle and I think that he's a great player. Any school would love to get him. But, this has much more to do with an irrational fear of Saban and insecurity than it does with losing one recruit.

In the end, I think that Randle leaves Louisiana because I think that he was heading that way all along. First it was Miami. Now, it's Alabama. If a kid wants to leave then he wants to leave. More power to him. I hope I'm wrong. I really do. But, it doesn't mean much in the vast scheme of things.

Because everyone is freaking out about it constantly and I wanted to provide some perspective as to why I didn't think it would be the end of the world if Randle went to Alabama. This kind of thing happens.

First off, sorry you are wedged in Gumpville and secondly, I do crave to see RR in P&G with all my heart, but ultimately he will do what he feels best for him.

I agree! In my history with the site I have only said that we would not get 2 players. 1 is McNight and 2 is Randle. 2 years ago the recruiting of McNight was going very much the same way as this one. I have said it and will say it again "Chill". He might want to be left alone, people are on this kids jock all the time about this shite. This is a resaon why MrWilson has been Negative when has come to these 2. Other than that I just ask Questions here and there, but because I say that about Randle I'm Neg. Thats cool.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion. Many agree with you Mr. Wilson, but most on here disagree. Whether it is denying the reality of the truth, or the actual disagreement with your argument. Wherever he goes, it all boils down to his happiness. You think he cares what the hell we all think? He is trying to make the best decision for his future in football, and all we can do is wait until NSD to see how this class turns out.

The state of Florida has so much HS football talent in it, that it has no need to "lock down" the state. LA...not so much.

Again...you've named 3 of the 4 most powerful HS football states. Of COURSE kids are going to leave GA to go OOS....they can't ALL go to UGA.

Finally....someone said it!!!!

Those with the fear wouldn't call it "irrational", though. As good of a recruiter as Nick Saban is, and as many connections as he has in our state, if he starts getting top prospects that LA wants, we're screwed.

Everyone can put their blinders on and say "LSU will be fine" all they want, but we didn't get where we are by letting our small states top players go elsewhere...and we're not going to stay where we are by doing so. Everyone acts like LSU is entitled...like we've been a top team forever and it's never going to change. That's not the case...if LSU slips into mediocrity, we're not going to have the ND, Michigan, USC, etc. name to help drag us out of it. All the more reason we can't lose our spot on top...even for a minute.

I know this has come across as negative, and I didn't mean it that way. Just wanted to offer a couple of counterpoints.

Excellent post.

I wish the kid best of luck no matter where he goes.

Does anyone know what time he will make his supposed commitment

Randle is better than all of those guys. He is the only guy I've seen in the past decade that I actually said when I saw him, "Please God let him go to LSU". He's the best high school receiver I've ever seen, yes including Julio. If Bama gets him, hang it up. Those 2 will wreak havoc on LSU for a long, long time. The effects will be monumental because Bama will be "back".

Or they'll still suck because they'll have the same situation LSU has now...no one to throw to their great receivers.

Someone needs to tell these Louisiana players recruited by Alabama that they are just being used by Saban to artificially enhance his recruiting reputation. Once they get over there, no one is going to give two craps about them and they will become an addition to the long list of in state players that leave the state and fail to develop their potential.

Hopefully he sees LSU's current qb situation and realizes Bama will be in that boat next yr.
