Seminary: where did you go and why?

I have some friends who entered seminary right after college, or after being in the business world for 5-10 years. One of them joined a monastery in India. Where/Why did you choose to attend and for what purpose, even if you didn’t go into the ministerial world?

I didn't go to Seminary, but wish I could do so recreationally

Why did you go, and was it a good experience. Did you reach your goals in finishing?

Just go into a program for sport without any specific intention of entering ordained ministry.

My last visit to Seminary was a couple of years ago, had a blast kayaking down the Okatoma, I think late spring/early summer is the best. Make reservations ahead, they can get very busy.

A buddy's dad got his PhD at Duke. Actually a very cool guy too.
He was the minister at my wedding.

Not really what I was saying, no. In another life I'd like to complete a seminary program for credit, whether I was going to change my career or not. I don't have the time to do that, however.
But sure, if I did and if I could audit the full scope of courses that'd be fine too I guess. But if I'm doing that I might as well get the letters.

My old man went to western baptist, out in Oregon. I want to say they were strongly affiliated with campus crusade for Christ at UF back in the late 60s/early 70s. Several guys from UF ended up out there. One of my dad's roommates fathered a heisman winning qb
Edit: should add my dad preached for maybe 7-8 years, ended up falling back on what he did to pay for those 2 masters... became a general contractor.

Saw a documentary about one a while back that scared the daylights out of me. Old cats and dogs were clawing their way out of the dirt of this hunted pet seminary and goin after people. Crazy stuff

Know a guy who did this. He's into jazz and independent film. He's also a black belt in jiu-jitsu, own his own school, and could totally and completely frick you up.
