Did Shaw get too comfortable?

He used to regularly have top 20-type recruiting classes and NFL QB prospects and hard nosed, physical defenses with big NFL-type players.

Was Derek Mason the real engine at that program? Seems like it hasn't been the same since he left, but the last couple of years has been truly awful.

All I see is three losses (and somewhat competitive) to teams they should lose to anyways

Can teams just go 0-3 anymore without people wondering what happened to them?

Academic standards, more specifically as it relates to grad students, really screws them over

Their recruiting has remained near the top of the Pac 12 most years, so this can't be it.

I have read that the strength and conditioning coach Harbaugh brought with him from San Diego was a big contributor to their success. He was fired for unknown reasons in the spring of 2019, and Stanford has sucked since.

String of really bad quarterbacks (McKee is the best they've had recently)
Recruiting well, but as well as well as a few years ago especially on the lines
Stanford had some of the best assistant coaches for years and their staff now is just not close to the same quality.
