Why would a team whose resume is: -2 losses -no conference championship -no division championship -losses to the 2 best teams (presumably the other loss besides bama would be to a good team) they played deserve a shot at being national champions?

Only if it was rated the sixth best team after college champions were chosen. It would be unlikely, but say a Cinderella LSU team loses to Fliorids but beats Bama who wins the West with one kiss and bests Ga. in Atlanta. Would we be rated high with just 2 losses ? Yes.

First, I was responding to the sceniaor in the OP which is wildly different than the one you presented.

In your scenario, again I ask why you'd deserve a shot? We don't know who your 2nd loss is to but we know it isn't bama. So you've lost to an unknown team as well as to Florida but have a great win over bama. Still didn't win the west. Didn't win the SEC. Wouldn't GA likely be above LSuin this case as well? Not to mention the handful of other P5 champs and other teams they may end up with only 1 loss.

If you're a 2loss team that didn't win your divsiion you absolutely do not desreve a chance to be national champion. And just ftr this has nothing to do wiht LSu (or UGA), I'm just jumping into the discussion topic.
