We should DEFINTIELY make sure that Russia gets to unilaterally determine what its neighbors get to do though.

My comment doesn't have anything to do with what Putin would accept.
My comment is addressing the abject absurdity in suggesting that the United States could or should make commitments to Russia concerning the foreign policy decisions of other, sovereign nations.
It isn't any more our place to tell Estonia that it cannot be a part of NATO because Russia really doesn't want it to than it is for Russia to demand that it be able to control the policy of every nation that has ever been administered from Moscow.
Its a completely absurd premise.
