Ok maybe stated more generically since we don’t have access to their financials or strategic plans…are you bullish, neutral or bearish? I’m of th opinion that it won’t work as currently constructed for a few main reasons:

1) golf has always rewarded performance and avoided some of the pitfalls of guaranteed contracts like you see in baseball and sometimes football. I’m not sure their current setup won’t yield mediocre play that won’t draw viewers.

2) Golf has experienced enthusiasm participation booms in the past that are unlikely to be replicated. We are coming off the pandemic boom where all outdoor activities got a huge lift. It will taper off just like the suburban golf course development boom and the Tiger boom.

3) entertainment seems to be getting more and more fractured. I cant get my kids to watch broadcast tv at all…occasionally my son will watch sports with me…but this generation seems to enjoy all the other options much more than live sports. I think the piece of pie for sorts-tainmemt will shrink in our lifetimes.

Fairly neutral. They've had some successes that no one though possible just 6 or 7 months ago.

Bht they also still have some glaring flaws.

The lineup of players is far better than what everyone thought it was going to be when it was supposedly "dead" at Rivera.

But some parts of the broadcast suck. I think they actually do a decent job of showing the golf, but some of the commentary is plain awful.

I also think it's too early to pass judgement on some things as they've said the format is going to look a good amount different next year and going forward. The next season will really show what they've got because from everything I can tell next year will be the actual product.

We'll see

Big L, add into that. #4. Half the people in the USA hate the Saudis and will never watch a golf league that is backed by them.

So you already have a small target audience, golf fans, and about half, maybe more, hate your guts. Billions in financing is not fixing that problem or turning a profit.

being able to watch all the relevant highlights for any sporting event in a matter of minutes, at any time, with the touch of a button is what this generation knows. They have been programmed through their environment not to need to sit through hours of an event to see what happens. And this isn't even excusive to sporting events, it applies to information in general. The younger generations don't read entire articles to get all of the information...they get the highlights from social media feeds. I think getting into any market like a competitive professional sports league is going to be difficult to sustain long-term, especially one trying to directly compete with a well-established entity like the PGA tour. I just feel like the financial investment needed to build something like LIV to compete in the marketplace could take decades to start yielding profits.

You can look at pretty much every non-major sports league. They either have folded quickly or have been subsidized by the major sports leagues. LIV is obviously a little different because they've been signing guys from the major sports league to their league, but there are still major hurdles that all these leagues inherently face that may be insurmountable for LIV

Had the PGA acquiesced and allowed Tour players to play on LIV and if LIV weren't now trying to compete with the Tour, then LIV wouldn't have needed to invest the hundreds of millions it took to lure the players they have away from the Tour. if it was just a matter of putting up the money to pay out big cash prizes and the operating expenses of 8 tournaments a year during "dead periods" in the Tour season, then I think the business model would have been a lot easier sell and they'd see profits much sooner.
