Ok maybe stated more generically since we don’t have access to their financials or strategic plans…are you bullish, neutral or bearish? I’m of th opinion that it won’t work as currently constructed for a few main reasons:
1) golf has always rewarded performance and avoided some of the pitfalls of guaranteed contracts like you see in baseball and sometimes football. I’m not sure their current setup won’t yield mediocre play that won’t draw viewers.
2) Golf has experienced enthusiasm participation booms in the past that are unlikely to be replicated. We are coming off the pandemic boom where all outdoor activities got a huge lift. It will taper off just like the suburban golf course development boom and the Tiger boom.
3) entertainment seems to be getting more and more fractured. I cant get my kids to watch broadcast tv at all…occasionally my son will watch sports with me…but this generation seems to enjoy all the other options much more than live sports. I think the piece of pie for sorts-tainmemt will shrink in our lifetimes.

Fairly neutral. They've had some successes that no one though possible just 6 or 7 months ago.
Bht they also still have some glaring flaws.
The lineup of players is far better than what everyone thought it was going to be when it was supposedly "dead" at Rivera.
But some parts of the broadcast suck. I think they actually do a decent job of showing the golf, but some of the commentary is plain awful.
I also think it's too early to pass judgement on some things as they've said the format is going to look a good amount different next year and going forward. The next season will really show what they've got because from everything I can tell next year will be the actual product.
We'll see

I actually think that there’s a shortage of team golf and match play that they coukd fill. I also think that every tournament being 72 hole stroke play is detrimental to the tour. The New Orleans team event has been more interesting to watch than it would be as 72 stroke play..
The challenge is going to be finding ways to get people invested in the teams. If I were then I’d find a way to build franchises based on geography just like every other sports team. I’d love for Houston to have a pro team that plays other franchises maybe even in varying formats.

I follow golf pretty closely. In my younger days, I worked tournaments for all three major networks. The Tour is playing an event in Jackson this week. I looked at the field and I don't recognize the vast majority of players. Sam Burns is the only "name" player in the field imo.

You carried wires and got coffee.

There's three former Major winners and a the best amateur in the world from 2019.
You truly know nothing about golf

You said you didn't know anyone else in the field. Anyone that watches golf will recognize 50+ players as they've spent years on Tour, including three fricking major winners. Maybe they all won after your diagnoses or something

He said he didn’t know the vast majority of players. Then said Burns is the only “name” in the field
Anyone with basic comprehension would understand Burns isn’t the only name he recognizes

LIV is attempting to usurp a sport league not just a team. So a couple billion isn’t that much if comparative a single sports team like the Cowboys alone are worth 4-6 billion.
Wait. I've been told it was just a couple of tournaments. Off weeks to supplement the schedule. You mean that's not true?
Maybe the PGAT sniffed that fox, err Shark, out right away and has been very appropriate in their response.

Big L, add into that. #4. Half the people in the USA hate the Saudis and will never watch a golf league that is backed by them.
So you already have a small target audience, golf fans, and about half, maybe more, hate your guts. Billions in financing is not fixing that problem or turning a profit.

LIV golf “will pay to air” on FS1
There you go
There you go

LIV is going to get a tv contract. If they pay or not Is not relevant. They will be on tv. The pga will have to deal with it.
What we as fans have to understand is LIV is likely here to stay. Will pga work with them or not? That is the only relevant argument. Rory seems to have switched his stance again.
Will Monohan rope Rory in or not?
