My brother worked there for a few years. He said management was always a shitshow.

It’s a shell of itself and far from some powerhouse. They lost their account with the city and the city hired a New York firm to do advertising for the tricentennial stuff.

It's always been a sweatshop.

It's the marketing version of working for a Big Four accounting firm... with worse hours and less pay.

It's also been a very old fashioned run firm... someone made a Don Draper reference and that's very much how the firm has been run. Big "butts in seats" mentality and old-line methods.

That doesn't work as well today and it's a big reason the firm has struggled.

The new owner supposedly is more modern and is willing to let people work remotely at least some of the time, wants to bring in new methods, etc... which is a big reason for both less space needed and wanting to get a new location.

They are trying to move on from the past.
