It’s crazy to me how many of y’all clean deer where they fall. I’ve hunted deep deep in public land my whole life and I’ve only ever gutted 1 deer in the woods and that’s because we killed 3 that morning and they all had to go in the same deer cart. Gutting them was easier than making 2 trips. I’m not knocking it at all, just never done it. I quit hunting Sicily island because I figured my only option to get a deer out of there would be to clean it and pack the meat out and I wasn’t doing all that lol

I originally did it when I didn't feel like dragging but last year I did it for every deer I killed. It takes a little longer to cleanthan hanging but by the time I drag it, hang it, dump guts, clean sxs, and spray off the patio it's a wash.

I always have field dressed them where they fall. I'm just of the mindset that the sooner you can get the blood and guts out, the quicker you dissipate the heat. Heat promotes bacteria growth.

for me, its by far the best and most efficient way to clean deer

I've done everything, drug them out, deer cart, put on shoulders, etc and quartering and hauling out in my backpack is by far my preferred method now, especially since I'm hunting 1-2 miles away from the truck most of the time
