A thumbs up emoji is often used as a passive aggressive gesture like “whatever you say, man, I don’t care.” It’s also often not used to mean that, but just a shorthand for “message received” or “i will do that” or “that is a good idea, do that”.
The problem with texting is that absent body language pr greater context, it is easy to completely misinterpret the tone of a conversation.
