It was just a terrible segway by Finebaum saying "speaking of a guy who was about to be counted out and counted down, he's now the toast of Louisiana, Brian Kelly...." The guest quickly responds that Kelly was in "nowhere near the hot water of the other guys we talked about."
To be fair, there were some people...LSU fans...ON THIS VERY BOARD...who were "down on Brian Kelly" after the FSU game. The screenshot, of course, is inexcusable.
It's not just LSU fans, but many LSU fans seem to have a far greater sense of insecurity than other fanbases and bristle at ANYTHING which can be perceived as a "slight". But the REALITY is LSU completely lost its credibility and the benefit of the doubt with the poor performance over the last two years. Like it or not, LSU has been a .500 program recently. They aren't going to get "national respect" back until they prove it with results. Losing to an average FSU team in embarrassing fashion (a blocked XP) didn't help win back that respect. Saturday's win over MSU in which LSU was an underdog going in was the first step in earning back that respect.
If come November LSU is 7-1, or even 6-2 heading into the game vs. Alabama, you'll see national pundits talking about how LSU may have a shot at upsetting Alabama.
Free advice: Quit overreacting one way or the other after each individual game in year one of the Brian Kelly era.

There were LSU fans on this board calling Brian Kelly a bad coach in the first quarter of the Mississippi State game.
