Well if they do get suspended, it won't be for at least 15-20 more days

Suspensions take effect immediately after they are handed down right? No chance we can push them back to beginning of next year? Although I'm not sure what would be the better situation, unless Deuce and one of the other two aren't with the team next year.

they have the right to appeal so they can't suspend them until after the hearing

As soon as the appeals are taken care of the suspension begins. If they are suspended before the falcons game, then we would not see them in a game until the next falcons game.

On Sunday, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported that several of the players who have tested positive are considering a suit against the manufacturer of “StarCaps,” a weight-loss supplement that allegedly does not disclose on its label the presence of Bumetanide. A November 2007 entry on the National Center for Biotechnology Information’s web site disclosed that Bumetanide was found in the StarCaps product.

not with regards to the suspension. maybe with regards to loss of wages against the manufacturer.

where's it talk about that?

I just don't understand how a "dietary supplement"(starcaps) can contain a medication that requires a prescription by law....I understand a "natural" ingredient that has properties of a drug, in example white willow bark has aspirin properties, but to have bumex in it is against the law! Ive pulled up various websites and see no BUMEX(bumetanide) in the list of ingredients.... WTF!!

i just dont see deuce ever doing anything against the law, guy's been a standup guy his whole life. and now he wants to do somehting illegal. i just think somehtings wrong with the whole thing.

who said this drug was against the law?
Posted on 10/27/08 at 2:23 pm to Chad504boy

NFL live just made it seem like they are in the clear.
The Saints called the illegal substance hotline and the hotline did not tell them the pills were on the banned substance list.

how is a hotline supposed to tell them if specific pills are banned or not. New pills are created every day. I think the NFL makes it very clear what substances to stay away from and its your responsibility to stay away from them. I'd be shocked if this was waived.

Well, the "hotline" in question, is an NFL-sponsored source where players can call and check if certain supplements would contain substances that are banned. As I heard it, Michael Smith, on NFL Live, reported that at least the three Saints players called the hotline and were told that the supplement was ok. If this report is true, the point is that the players did their due dilligence and should not be penalized.

If the substance they tested positive for wasn't fully disclosed by the manufacturer, how in the hell are they supposed know that they was digesting a banned substance??

coming off of knee surgery def will make you do whatever it takes to get back out there

with Deuce going to appeal it and the case being heard in the middle of November, Reggie may be back if Deuce is still suspended in Dec.
In the case of Will Smith and Charles Grant is the suspension 4 weeks or 4 games? with us having a bye week they would only miss 3 games.
If 4 weeks... one or the other should take it now and the other should appeal. So we don't have both starting DE's suspended at the same time.
