You need to look up the word obsessed.
This is topical because he is now starting out of desperation by Jimbo.

Bobby Murcer wasn't too shabby.

Max Johnson has thrown for more than 200 yards in a game 8 times in his 16 career starts

A healthy Kayshon Boutte was the leading receiver in 6 of those games

The outlier? A&M last year *Edit - actually I missed ULM last year before the Aggies

We're about to see if Max can play at a high level without his security blanket

I think people are going to be surprised how good Max is going to be for the Aggies.

The 1st person to be surprised will be Jimbo as he started King ahead of him. Lol.

I hope he does great in every game, except LSU. He is better than most on this board gave him credit for. He had the bad luck on coming just after Joe B. Similar to whoever replaced Micky Mantle, was never gonna be good enough. And don't try walking into a grocery store naked just because MM could get away with it btw.
No Johnson is just not good. I implore people to go watch his highlight tape and look at the catches WRs have to make. With all this crap thrown at Daniels by everybody, some people gave Johnson the benefit of the doubt because of numbers. Without LSU WRs going ham, he would look like one of the worst QBs in the country last year.

Now I will say this, he's better than King. I never thought King was could. Even back in high school when the recruiting board was crying and throwing a fit that TAMU got his commitment over LSU. People were so enamored with his recruiting ranking at the time, yet didn't watch his tape, like really look at it. Kid was horrible in my eyes. Then he started looking bad at different events and sucking his senior year and his ranking started to plummet, then everybody was glad we didn't get him. Kid has played 2 group of 5 and a FCS opponent and has 5 TDs to 5 ints. That is horrendous. These aren't even good teams defensively either.

They can't possibly believe this..
"Johnson will be replacing King for the starting job and will be bringing a smart pocket presence, great vision and experience to the maroon and white offense."

Max had the WORST pocket presence I've ever seen. I remember yelling to the TV to get rid of the ball or run out of the pocket!! I think half his sacks were because he was UNAWARE of where the rush was coming. So, really not buying this reasoning.

Max is a really odd QB at the SEC level.
He’s limited physically - anything over 20 yards or to the outside of the field looks awful, from what I recall his HS stats were pretty mediocre, and his pocket presence is also awful. He’s somehow always been painted as a decent dual threat although he’s awkward & slow running. Physically he’s basically Anthony Jennings in the “how the heck is this guy playing the SEC”.

However, he’s really good in the middle of the field . Makes quick decisions in that space and always leads his guys for solid YAC opportunities. 27/6 td/int ratios are hard to do by accident. I expect him to somehow do pretty well & it continue to not make any sense.

He didn't leave to try to fight for playing time somewhere else. He left because his brother wanted to go to A&M.

And here he is starting....

Saw that. I remember the opposite from his days here at LSU.

Remember Max Johnson in the Alabama game in Tuscaloosa 2021. He was awful worse than awful. Everyone we have on bench is better than Max. How is his brother doing at receiver?
