Anybody know about Hot Springs Village, Arkansas (as a potential retirement locale)

Seems to have stuff I want. Golf courses, mountains, hiking.
But it looks like it has lots and lots of old people. When I’m old, I don’t want to see old people everywhere I look.

Visited hot springs last year. Ok for a few days, but I was ready to head home. Not the place I would want to spend the rest of my adult life.

"Mountains?" Is the elevation even over 1,000 feet?

My former boss and his wife retired there. As mentioned, great golf. Fishing is legit too. He is from OK so he is somewhat close.
Downside, lots of old people. Sorry, its a retirement place.

Lake Hamilton is a big and nice lake. Water is crystal clear at times. Lots of boats. Mountains nearby. You could do a lot worse.

Agreed, one of the most boring vacations I’ve ever been on

Going down tomorrow. Looking forward to great German food at the Steinhaus Keller followed by live music at The Big Chill.
Hot Springs is a step back in time. If you like the Hoss races and a quality Casino, it's for you.
For the younger folks there is magic Springs theme park...

Sounds like you would like Bella Vista Arkansas. It is a weird mix of retired and rich folks who worked for Walmart or a company that does big business with Walmart.

HSV is about 20 mins away from hot springs proper.
The property owners association is huge. It’s like it’s own small municipality. The golf courses are great. Good fishing in local lakes and Ouchita is nearby for an excellent striper lake. Ouchita is good for diving too, very clear.
Lake Hamilton has some amazing homes. Good recreation lake, but fishing not as good as Ouchita.
As noted, HSV is a retirement community, so of course it’s a bunch of old f&cks. I always think of Mortie Seinfeld anytime I’m up there.
Hot Springs(the town) has some good (better than you might expect) restaurants, too.
There’s also the track and casino in Hot Springs, which is a big draw.
Overall, I could think of worse places to retire.
Background…mid 40’s, live in south La, sister has a house on Lake Hamilton that we go to twice a year.

Beautiful area, lived there a while. Lots of old people, lots of Yankees. Good golf and fishing though, it’s worth it lol

I can tell you the security staff at the Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa are a bunch of muppets.

HSV sits in the Ouchita Mountains. It’s highest peak is 2,753 feet.

Yeah, Hot Springs Village is several miles north of Hot Springs and Lake Hamilton. There are a couple of smaller lakes, but nothing as big, nice, or crowded as Lake Hamilton.
Its all old people, but the whole municipality is centered around retirees, so it’s perfect for some people if that’s what you’re looking for.
It’s a big development with a lot of undeveloped lots that people invested in years ago. So if you’re looking to buy, there are many opportunities to buy from someone looking to unload their old investment.

Lake Ouachita is even better. Amazing lake.
HSV has several smaller lakes you can enjoy as well, some hiking/walking trails, and lots of golf.

Cool place with good golf. Everything shuts down early because everyone is old.

Yankees and Californians who hate the south are moving there at rapid pace. Good luck

It is absolutely HORRID. I live not too far away and won’t go there. Boring to the max. Broaden your horizons!

Yeah, uhh Ouachita is like 30 miles in length. It's immensely bigger than Hamilton and one of the best hidden gem lakes in the entire South.
There's also almost zero development there because it's surrounded by a national forest. The campgrounds are also probably the best in the state.
