kill it with fire is the preferred method for me (gas).
But, if you are opposed to this vinegar works too. Just need a bunch... has to come into contact with the yellow jackets.
Supposedly destroys their exoskeleton. So you will be doing something akin to skinning them alive instead of gassing them or burning them alive.

Put a piece of scrap screen on top of the hole at night. Pour your choice of kill liquid down the hole (dish washing liquid and water, Bifen, kerosene, etc.)
If you have the desire to light a flammable liquid, OT rules require that a video must be posted the next morning.
