Have to be careful with tap water as it will mess it up. Also the cubes aren't very cold, kind of sweating. Maybe some brands are different

i'm dumbfounded by this.

If your tap water is messing it up, then you probably shouldn't be drinking your tap water. Been using my nugget ice maker for a few years now regularly and it still works like it did the first day.

Cubes aren't cold? WHat does that even mean? I probably get what you're trying to say, but man you sound like an idiot saying ice isn't very cold.
Just some advice, you have to let it make about 2-3 batches first before the cubes are ready to be used. The first batch or two is going to be thin ice cubes

I guess I'm speaking specific to whatever model my mother in law has. It has a clear lid. Yes ice can be different temps. I might sound like an idiot but I have a degree in Physics. As far as tap water, if you check recommendations on these like say "Opal" which was mentioned above the recommend distilled.

We recommend using only distilled water in your Opal, if possible.
