DeSantis loses nothing aligning with Trump and gains everything. They can lose as a ticket in 24 and DeSantis can still win as the head of the ticket in 28.

If DeSantis alienates Trumps base he is unelectable if they stay home.

If DeSantis turns down a VP offer I think it speaks volumes as to which side he is on.

Nobody with a brain is challenging Trump in the Primary. I’m sick of hearing it. I want to bookmark all these threads if/when DeSantis cucks out like Bill Cassidy and all the others.

They are going to Indict Trump on some bullshite, and if DeSantis steps in to primary him and use that, it tells you all you need to know about if he is an establishment plant.

If DeSantis is on the up and up he will focus on Florida and keep his nose down until 28 under those circumstances.

Book it

Any conservative has plenty of issues to attack Trump. Trump is the man that listened to Lin Wood and Sidney Powell and Rudy Guillani. The man that put five time failed democrat Peter Navarro in the limelight. The man whose son in law became the partner of Goldman Sachs in a huge Caribbean business deal--some kind of payback. The man who threw money at people during COVID and blamed McConnell for not letting him throw more money. The man whose daddy got him out of the draft for Viet Nam who then criticized the service of POW McCain.

Anyone that doesn't admit those things is just living with some twisted, distorted view of what Trump really is.

The issues are there to attack Trump from the right.

DeSantis is far more electable than Trump. He can pull in centrists and disillusioned Democrats. Trump on the other hand carries a 52+% disapproval rating, which basically means he's going to have to go against a candidate who's disliked more than he is to get elected. And Trump folks aren't gonna sit at home and watch another Democrat win, they'd literally lose their shite.

Trump v Biden repeat, I think he wins that one, but him vs pretty much any non pink haired transgender whacko democrat he likely loses.

DeSantis on the other hand beats pretty much any Democrat brought to the table in the current economic environment.

Obviously still 2 more years, but DeSantis is clearly in a better position at this point (If he chooses to run).

You can count the high profile people who've become close allies with Trump and are still in good standing on the right on one hand. Getting drawn into Trump's orbit is always risky, especially if you have a mind of your own.

DeSantis can't alienate Trump, but he can be his own man and make it clear he's not going to be a ceremonial head for 4 years when he can be fighting and winning actual culture wars that Trump doesn't even understand in one of the most prominent states in the country.

This approach is too tepid and leisurely. The country doesn't have the luxury of time. Politically, the urgency is real. Thinking past 2024 at this point is folly. We've got to win NOW - forget about 2028.

Leaving the FL governor's office to run as anyone's VP would be the dumbest political move possible for DeSantis. It makes absolutely zero sense whatsoever.

DeSantis also does not gain Trump one single voter in the general election, further making any decision to choose a Trump-DeSantis ticket insanely stupid.
