Matthews reasons for picking Tennessee

A couple things he mentioned..
1. Get developed to go to the NFL
2. Win a ship
There is a school down the road from him with a track record of doing both of those things at a much higher rate than Tennessee.

Yeah, that is pretty silly. But he obviously got his feelings hurt by being further down the LSU recruiting board. Maybe things change if LSU doesn't land the other guys it is chasing.

Tennessee has had 4 DBs drafted since Eric Berry got drafted in 2010. Not too shabby, but then you realize we've had 4 DBs drafted in the last 2 drafts it downplays it a bit
And not to rub salt in wound. But LSU has had 20 DBs drafted since Eric Berry

i mean our cb board looks much different now that rogers is uncommitted, so we can't be too upset at this
either way, nice pick up for tn

Yep, CBK is recruiting at level faster than some of us thought, he’ll lock down The State next year. Maybe he told those other 2 we holding out for you guys. Hopefully we get them but it hurts to lose homeboys no matter their ranking. Mathews is a good kid, but kids live in the moment, “They know Not what They say”. I’m seriously hoping we can flip Williams that will be the moment CBK plants his flag!

Best of luck to him, but I’d rather Toviano, Rogers, or Javon Thomas than Matthews anyway. I think it’s possible we land 2/3 of these guys. At least another one of them, pair that up with Austin, Stamps, and Hughes and we are vibin.

Tennessee will make for an easy flip

I think an impactful first season of football by this team and staff will go a long way. Maybe not specifically tied to the overall record, but how we play. Obviously winning matters, but I'm curious if we continue this recruiting momentum into game time momentum.

The kid always wanted to leave BR. He was never favored to come here, his dad has stated to some in our circle on may different occasions that the kid wants to leave the state. I just hope fans stop pouncing on kids for doing what they think is best for them. I’m a high school coach and try not to influence my athletes decisions. With that being said a 6”3 corners with elite speed smh I’d love to have had him.

Nope. They had the highest offer. Simple as that.
