Anyone Have a Putting Green in Their Backyard?

I am getting prices for a putting green. Anyone have good or bad experiences? Looking for about a 40' X 20' green.

I did a lot of research and got a ton of quotes, finally decided not to do it bc none of them will hold a chip. I think it would lose a lot of long term appeal only being able to putt around it.

Had one until about a year ago. Spent over $10,000 on it and used a lot in the beginning but like a new toy, lost it's appeal so we had it taken out, which was another expense.

We have one - and we actually put it in the back of our yard and out in two hitting bays in oppposite sides of the yard so you have a 40-55 yard pitch or a 60-75 yard wedge…
The greens don’t hold balls well but we do the trackman proximity testing and it is terrific for that and it is great for putting - we had them build a green with a nice slope so it has a wide variety of putting options - my older daughter does the John Rahm star drill every day for 45 minutes on the am and it’s helped her putting quite a bit

Poured mine at my previous house myself. Laid artificial turf down over it.
By DIYing it I certainly didn’t get it level, but that was sort of the point. Helped my putting a lot.

Putting Green
I ended up getting one installed. Turned out better than I expected.
Ended up putting some nice color changing LED lights under the cups too.

What did you spend on that project? Looking to do something similar and was quoted 15k-20k.

That is pretty damn awesome. 15 days from asking to posting finished pics. Pretty amazing.

The newer versions are gravel and sand bases vs concrete and I would think that helps with the receptiveness

I purchased all the materials, gravel, turf, light, cup etc for around $6000. Labor was around $4000-5000. I'm a contractor, so yes I made it happen pretty quick. Took the guys about 4-5 days start to finish. Hard cost was $10,000 so probably about $15-20k is probably finished price.

Well I’m impressed and jealous! It looks great.
Do you have in progress pics? What about the base loading profile? Hold chips well?
Again, super impressed!

Pretty much cut out the area and put down about a 5" base of crusher, then an inch or two of granite sand. It doesn't hold chips as well as I would like. So far, it hasn't been that difficult to maintain. I have a few extra bags of the turf sand that you sweep in to make the greens faster or after heavy rains. I'm really happy with the outcome.

I think you are 10-15k closer to 15 for the size your asking about if you have a contractor install
