American Airlines - Help me out

Flying next week on American for the fist time in... 15 years or more. Connecting at DFW.
1) I'm likely to check a bag - do I pay for this when I do my check-in?
2) What's the drink / snack selection look like? I'm in main cabin. Should I plan on bringing something on board?
3) How's the entertainment selection? Should I download shows to my laptop first?
Most of my travel is always with Southwest... and occasionally Delta, and very occasionally Spirit and Frontier.

Prayers sent. At least it's not Spirit.

1) Yes
2) pretzels or a couple of Biscotti cookies is the norm. There may be food for purchase if it's a longer flight. Sodas, juices, water are complimentary. If you want a meal you may want to purchase it in the departures terminal to go.
3) Not sure about American. United lets you login to their wifi and you can watch their selection of content.

It's just a commercial airline, you posted this like you're from another planet

They do have a selection of movies/shows you can watch but make sure to download some stuff as a backup. I flew from Anchorage to New Orleans through DFW 2 weeks ago and on both flights the Wi-Fi was down. Thankfully I had podcasts downloaded to get me through the 5 hour flight from Anchorage after planning on just watching stuff through their app.

I think you can add a bag to check in.
Depending on the length of the flight, they will give you a drink and either pretzels/biscoff cookies.
They have the usual entertainment options, some newer movies and tv shows. It wouldn't be a bad idea to download something just in case though.

This seems to be the case a lot and when wifi is working, it seems to buffer a lot.
As mentioned, snacks are just pretzels or cookies.
Yes, you will be charged to check a bag.

Make sure you sign up for text alerts so you'll know when they change your gate.

Used to fear DFW then I moved here. Plus many upgrades over the years. Good airport.

Print and screen shot your boarding pass. As mentioned the Wi-Fi is not always working

Terrible airline.
They yanked IFE out of most of their planes. You have to bring your own device to stream video. So, yes, bringing your laptop with preloaded video is smart.

Pay when you check in or at the counter
You get a coke and either pretzels, cookie, or corn snack
Entertainment is fine but you have to stream from your own device

Yes, the checked bag process hasn't changed in my lifetime.

In Main Cabin you'll get a free non-alcoholic beverage and maybe some pretzels.

AA ripped out all of the IFE on their narrowbody fleet. Streaming is your only option

1. Yes - will be $30-$40 per bag.
2. Pretzels/Biscoff & Sodas/Water. If you want anything other than this, I suggest bringing it on board.
3. You used to be able to connect to their "In-flight" Wi-Fi and access entertainment via their app, but I never rely on that and always have something downloaded. I would recommend doing the same.
