No, what's getting you is two little words in the pledge.

It's not the size, or number, of words, it's the idea behind them. It doesn't matter if you're using two words, or two hundred words, this is not a Christian nation.

quote:

Two little words, which you have applied a standard only found in a letter by Thomas Jefferson, to declare are offensive to your own personal sensibilities.

The idea behind the separation of church and state didn't come to being to protect people from behind offended. Why can't you have an honest conversation without trying to tell me what I think or how I feel?

quote:

Two little words that does absolutely nothing to establish a state religion, nor prohibits its free exercise.

That 'under God' sentiment could lead to laws or policies which would. Why flirt with that sentiment? If you want too at church, cool. But it doesn't belong in our official pledge.

quote:

Meanwile, we are told to accept and tolerate shitting, shooting up, and people fricking in public. We should be inclusive to men and boys sharing a bathroom and showers with our girls. We should understand the need of transsexual people and sexual deviants of all kinds to groom our kindergarteners into at the very least acceptance of their depravity.

You are told all of that, but not by me. Do you need someone to vent too? Is that why you're telling me this?

quote:

I can go on, but you stopped listening long ago, if you ever did.

Oh, I'm sure you could go on and on mentioning more shite that has nothing to do with the objection I've made. But why would you want too?

Try to remember this exchange the next time you think about giving an upvote to Troy for doing exactly the same thing to others.

But it is. Whether you can admit it or not.

I'm sorry, but if you think or feel that those two words, or the pledge itself shouldn't be said because of them because it violates some arbitrary idea in your head about what the separation of church and state means, then it is kind of hard to avoid stepping on your feels. The idea of the separation of church and state extends to constitutional bounds. The addition of "under God" in the pledge certainly does no more to establish a state religion, or prohibit the exercise of religion, than the "In God We Trust" that is found on damn near all our currency. There is no way to quantify the separation of church and state. It is subjective to each individual, which is probably why you don't find the phrase anywhere in our founding documents.

No, I'm telling you this to illustrate just how fubar thye concept of tolerance and inclusivity is these days. You shouldn't have to be subjected to the words "under God" in our Pledge of Allegiance, but our girls have no right to not be subjected to a big hairy dick in their locker room. Tolerance should make you at least as uncomfortable as those girls, no?
