It’s scary how close we came to hiring that psychopath

Who is to say he would not have been highly successful at LSU?

Texas got rid of Mack Brown after 2013. Since that time, 8 years, they have only had 4 winning seasons. ALL of them under Herman. 8 years, 3 HCs, relatively minimal success.

On the flip side LSU hired a guy, Orgeron, who was absolutely horrible at Ole Miss. For 3 seasons he won at least 9 games each year, culminating in one of the greatest seasons in CFB history...before he stupidly forgot he doesn't know how to coach football, only recruit. One school, 3 HCs hired over the course of 20 years. NONE had championship success before coming to LSU. ALL left as a national champion.

So maybe, just maybe, the issue was more TEXAS, not Herman. And if Herman were to have come to LSU he would still be coaching with a championship ring rather than sitting in a studio breaking down a North Texas game.

The opportunity (LSU) was there for Herman...He chose poorly

That hire that was so close to happening would have changed a bunch of shite and LSU never gets tGOAT 2019 season. Dodged a bullet.

He might still be coaching at LSU. It's proven to be a lot easier to win here than Texas in the last 20 years. Texas broke him, but I think he would still be a really good coach at the right place.
