Matthews didn’t get a real offer from CBK until.

Really really late in the game. It was a token offer. Kids dad played at LSU. He would’ve loved to stay in town-has tons of family here, but wasn’t shown any true interest. Chalk that one up to getting lost in the shuffle during a coaching change. He’s a great kid with a great family-he is definitely a high character type of athlete that we would want here. Here’s hoping they can pull a miracle, but I think the ship has sailed. Too many relationships built while LSU was asleep at the wheel.

If you believe this, you’re crazy.

I know this to be a fact.

So should CBK and LSU give up or keep trying?

I know this to be a fact. Know him and the family quite well.
Does he currently have a committable LSU offer?
If so, then they're just spinning the fact that he wants to go oos. Which is fine if that's what he wants to do.
But if he really wanted to be at LSU, then he could be so, if he goes elsewhere, he didn't REALLY want to be at LSU, now did he?

If this is true:
Kids get lost in the shuffle all the time. With a new coaching staff, he and his family/handlers should have understood it might take some time for them to learn who they wanted.
Lots of players are humble enough to be happy when they get the last scholarship from the school they want. If he went elsewhere because he didn't get an early offer, he isn't a high-character kid! Or at best not very smart!

Giving you first hand info. You’re welcome to dismiss it if you’d like. Current offer is real for sure but it was after all the other coaches had established themselves. We had/have too much ground to make up from the sound of it.

He has an offer - if he wants to be a Tiger - accept it. It is not complicated. LSU will be good with or without him.

If the hot chick you want doesn’t discover you till late in the game, do you tell her get lost?

I don’t disagree. And don’t kill messenger. I’m just telling you that I don’t think it’s likely we flip him at this point.

Would you ask the family what’s his plans for after college if he doesn’t make it to the NFL? I don’t doubt Austin has the ability to provide for its alumni, but is he willing to live in Austin area for life? I can tell you as a fact that LSU alumni take care of former tigers in all aspects. Most former tigers are revered in this state with a sense of awe by tiger fans. Players that went oos that don’t make it to the nfl and return to Louisiana, not so great. Many top out as high school coaches.

I 100% believe this is the info you were given.
I also 100% believe it's a load of crap, at least the part about him really wanting to be at LSU.
I don't remember guys like Foster Moreau and Lloyd Cushenberry whining about not getting offered early enough when they were the last players in their respective classes.
To me, this sounds like someone with a fragile ego who's butthurt they didn't get shown enough love. It doesn't sound like someone who really wants to come to LSU.

I told them precisely this as a matter of fact! They don’t disagree with that at all. They understand that well.

You’re analogy is off. There’s a hot chick that keeps you in the friend zone, then three others that treat you like a king. When friend zone chick comes around after a year what do you do? Bail on the other three hot ones? Or go with the bird in the hand?

I guess it depends how much I wanted to be with her in the first place.
And Tennessee and Texas aren't nearly as hot as LSU.

You can only go with one though. You go with the one you want to be with moving forward.

Exactly. His analogy is more fragile ego bs.
Maybe she put you in the friend zone because she needed time to decide if she would be able to really commit to you and be the partner you deserve to be with.
But your fragile ego got bruised and instead you'll settle for the crazy chick (Texas) or the slightly homely chick (Tennessee).
