Stop with all the 6-7 BS, this a new year.
USC were 4-8 last year so stop it. They are ranked
They also have a top 3 quarterback in the country and a much easier schedule. An elite QB as well as a massive upgrade at coach can make a big difference.

USC went 4-8 in 2021, including a 4 game losing streak to close out the year, yet they come in at 15th in the preseason poll...?
I guess they believe in Lincoln Riley and the recruits/transfers.

Two thoughts:
1. It took Orgeron two years to completely destroy the benefit of the doubt LSU had earned over the course of 20 years of consistent winning. For better or worse, they now have to earn it back.
2. USC being ranked highlights the ambiguity of the polls. Are teams being ranked on where the voters believe they will finish? Or, are teams being ranked on how good the voters think they are now? The answer is an inconsistent mixture of both. USC gets the nod because the successful HC/QB duo at OU is in place at a new school in a relatively weak conference. On the flipside, LSU gets the shaft because although they have a very proven new HC, there are roster question marks, which leaves questions as to where LSU will finish in the toughest division of the toughest conference in all of college football. LSU, Auburn, Ole Miss, etc could all be "better" teams than USC, but finish with worse records because USC plays a much weaker schedule. It's why a poll of 25 teams will ALWAYS have inconsistent logic
The good news is LSU's schedule is plenty good enough that if they win, where they started the season will matter not

Didn’t know Kentucky was expected to be that good this year. Would love to see them beat Florida week 2. They’re going to lose to #8 Utah week 1 too.
Napier in for a rough year.

polls in general, and certainly pre-season polls, are completely irrelevant. They're a relic from a bygone era. Ignore them.
All that matters for elite programs is winning your division/conference, and having a good shot to get into the Playoffs (and if not the playoffs, then a NY6 bowl). So ultimately it's the Selection Committee ranking that matter - not some silly voter polls.
Just win games, and it will all work out.

The Coaches’ and CBS sports poll both have LSU ranked #30. The AP poll will have us right around there too so if we beat FSU week 1 we’ll be ranked by the time we play Miss St.
Stage gonna be set for some big home games against Tennessee, Ole Miss and Bama this year. All will be top 25 matchups

This is new for me seeing the team unranked. Its kinda jarring. 22 years.
They lasted a whole week in the rankings last year. Should've been left out last year too.

LSU is unranked and FSU received 1 25th place vote, yet people want $250 for decent seats to the opener.
Hot take....the winner will be ranked in Top 25 after week 1.

Wow! We won’t get much of a bump if we beat Florida State either. If you believe any of this rot we could be 6-0 and unranked.

That doesn’t even count the risk of being murdered or arm robbed in NOLA

Like clockwork. Every year.
I mean their last Coach was pretty damn good and had them as a top 5 program or so this past decade lol. So maybe the 'clockwork' is accurate.

we dropped in the polls a few years back before we even played the game, can't remember if it was after Katrina or not but we were one of the last games of the weekend and the polls were out before we played

Yeah, except their new QB is light years ahead of any of our potential starters and they signed the Belitnikoff winner and now have Lincoln Riley.
