Most of the guys that went to the moon didn’t fly again because what were you going to do to top that.

—-NASA assigned the missions, the astronauts didn’t decide what missions they wanted to fly on. (Except Alan Shepard on Apollo 14 but that’s another story)

Congress axed the Apollo 18-20 moon missions, so that limited how many guys could go—-no moon walkers went twice.
