I know I’ll get downvoted but I doubt this is illegal. Or maybe it’s a gray area that really doesn’t have any legal recourse. It’s not your book. It’s theirs. You are just doing the work for them. They can call on that book at any time to track stolen weapons or other problems they may have. I was called several times to give information on a weapon. Chances are this guy have some irregularities or problems in his log book. And trust me they will find something when they come check your books. Also when you give up your ffl they take possession of the book.

I thought it was illegal for the feds to maintain a gun registry.

That's why I buy from a man who's given his son very specific instructions on what to do with his book when he dies.

Had them show up a few times over stolen guns/used in crime guns. ATF contacts manufacturer to get distributor's name. Distributor gives ATF the gun store's name. ATF contacts gun store to look through books to find original owner's name.

For a specific firearm! Doesn't give them carte-blanche to photocopy entire books of multiple customer's info, if that's indeed what this woman was doing, as per what the man behind the camera stated.
