End of Summer getaway ideas?

My wife has to go back to school next week, and the kids start back the week after. We traditionally have gone out of town this week to end the summer, but just haven't committed to anything.
We live in North GA, but are from South GA. We go to Florida almost every month for family and fun, so I'm a little burned out on it right now. I don't feel like another trip to the lake.
Anyone doing anything interesting? I don't feel like a staycation is in order, but maybe that's the thing to do? Our kids are 14 and under, so I think we are a couple years off from Vegas.

drive north if you always go south? Hit up somewhere along the east coast instead.

LOL. I worked in the Packaging biz for a while, that Riverwood/Graphic Packaging plant was always a nice cool place to be in late Summer.

I don’t know why, but this sentence made me laugh. Reminds me of The Good Place: “I was born in Phoenix, Arizona, but I went to school in Tempe, Arizona. Then I moved back to Phoenix…Arizona.”
But anyway, a quick New England trip is great that time of year. Vermont or Maine.

Eh, how old is your youngest? There's plenty to do in Vegas and the surrounding areas that doesn't involve drinking/gambling. It is ridiculously hot this time of year though.

Pulled a tour at Graphic myself. I always steered clear of July/August mill tours unless yankees were involved then I showed up just to watch them faint.

Lol, was being facetious about that. Prior to covid, I spent 5 weeks in Vegas a few years straight. We had trade shows, vendor shows, retail meetings... the works. My company at one time had a condo but they bailed, but we did stay in a nice hotel/condo with a setup. I have a love/hate relationship with Vegas. I hate in when I'm there, and I love and romanticize it when I'm not there.

Drive up to Gatlinburg for some people watching

Mountain View Ark. Any weekend in October. Listen to bluegrass everywhere and eat ice cream. Dry county. Byob. Pinewoods Cabins is the place to stay. Book now. Prices cheap. Plan on doing nothing but relaxing. Drive out to Banchard cave and see the spring boiling out the side of the mountain. We go about 4 times a year. Bring your musical instrument or buy one there. Go to the Dulcimer store and watch them make them. Visit the Ozark Folk center. Nightly shows in the Folk center theater. No street people and no crime. Lots of info online.
