Where to stay, what to do. Best time to go? Never been.

Downtown - late October/early November or mid-April

A lot of good options for hotels right in the middle of downtown. There is one, maybe now two Hyatt properties, a Hampton Inn, and an Omni hotel, all within about 2 blocks of each other between 3rd and 5th along the Korean Veterans Blvd corridor. The Omni literally abuts the Country Music Hall of Fame. All are roughly 4 blocks from Broadway. There is also a Hilton between 4th and 5th right off of Broadway across from Bridgestone Arena. Or, go out to Opryland and stay at the Gaylord there.
What to do, you name it.
Country Music Hall of Fame. Show at the Ryman, Ryman tour, see the Opry live. Multiple artist museums (Cash, Jones, others I am forgetting). Drink and listen to live music on Broadway.
Go out by Vandy to Centennial Park and visit the replica Parthenon with art museum below it. Tennessee State Museum, Capitol grounds.
Short drive out to the Hermitage (Andrew Jackson's house). Short drive to Stones River Battlefield in Murfreesboro. Drive down to Franklin and see where Hood destroyed the Army of Tennessee. Longer drive down to Lynchburg to Jack Daniels.

If traveling w/ a woman stay in the Gulch area; walkable to Broadway and all the craziness but not in it.

Don’t come until fall or you’ll be miserable. Also, downtown has gotten super expensive and trashy as cops won’t do anything about homeless bums and pandering
