My 5 ton and 3.5 ton units are reaching the end of their useful life. Got my first quote and almost fell of my chair. Owner of the company took the fear of God approach and said prices are going up again August 1st and likely 1-2 more times before the end of the year.

Anyone got any recent quotes for replacement? Reviewed the earlier threads from 2020 and price as i was quoted was double. I know there have certainly been price increases but not to this extent.

Sounds about right. Of all things inflation/supply chain is hitting hard, HVAC is one of the worst.

What were your quotes? Just curious as I also have a 5 and 3.5 ton.

I was quoted around $12.5k for a 3.5ton plus some additional ductwork on a house I was looking to purchase. Tropical AC and Heat. Have used him for regular servicing with no issues.

Not the cheapest, but the best HVAC guys I’ve ever had were the ones I used when I lived in New Orleans.

Equipment prices are not as crazy as contractors would lead you to believe.

5 ton HP and air handler costs approx $3,500 for 14 seer. Add material and labor plus margin. Main factor is how much labor your system will take to replace. Lots of older systems crammed in tiny closets with tiny returns etc.
