Just returned from a week in NYC with the kid. It's become an annual trip for us but we still get excited about going, something about the energy in that city that is unmatched.

-Covid restrictions are really non-existent. No masks required most places including subways. Some places like certain broadway shows & the Met Opera House/Lincoln Center are stupid about it but they also require proof of vaxx for everyone over 5 so we skipped over all that anyway.

-Very impressed with the Museum of Modern Art. We always stop at The Met because you can't possibly see everything in one visit. Natural History Museum was VERY underwhelming & sorely outdated. They require timed entry reservations & a mask. The entire process to get in was an unorganized mess. Also- it's extra to view their "special" exhibits. No desire to return there.

-We used the subway to get around, never had any issues or ever felt unsafe. The week pass is like $30, which is a great deal.

-We stayed a few blocks off Wall St. and honestly it was my favorite place we've stayed at yet. Quiet area in the evenings/nights but still just enough people that you feel safe walking around.

-Rode the Staten Island ferry (free) and got the best views of the city skyline & SOL. It's a nice ride and runs 24 hrs.

-Not a baseball fan, but I really enjoyed the Yankees game. Subway ride up there was easy enough, but had to wait a bit on the ride home. The stadium looks to be in the hood so we didn't venture away from it. Bud Light's are $15, fyi.

-Highly recommend a store called Camp if you're bringing kids. There's a few locations around NYC, we went to the one in Hudson Yards. Happened to stumble during open art time & my kid was able to made that god awful slime bullshite but it made her day so whatever.

-Decided at the last minute to do One World Observatory and really glad we did. Heights aren't my thing but I was ok. The entire presentation going up the elevator and getting off was great. Really enjoyed it & worth the money IMO.

-Tried Pizza Suprema off recommendations here and holy shite. Best pizza I've ever had. Anita Gelato was another treasure we found along with Pazza Notte that we also enjoyed. Also noticed that Raising Canes is opening a location in TS- thought that was pretty cool for a little fast food restaurant founded in BR.

-Spent a lot of time in Central Park, tons of playgrounds and various forms of entertainment for kids.

-There seemed to be a ton of construction going on around the city. Way more than I remember from the last few years, maybe delayed Covid work? Just something to keep in mind when searching for hotels.

-For my tokers, rec is legalized however there's no dispensaries yet except for NY medical patients. It's an odd situation that New York has seemed to kinda frick up- something about trying to figure out licenses & regulations (things that probably should have been sorted out from the get go). With that being said, some reddit searches will point you in the right direction if you're in need. Smoking in public is legal wherever smoking tobacco is.

All in all we had a great time & weather was great. New Yorkers get a bad rap but they're really some of the nicest people. Next time I'm hoping we make it over to Brooklyn and I'm interested in getting down to Coney Island although the locals have told me it's pretty trashy.

Good report

I’m glad I checked the NYC box years ago.

Standard for every state that has legalized for adult use. MA passed adult use in 2016 and it took until almost 2020 for the first shop to open.

The legislation very recently passed so it’ll be at least another year in NY.

Ahh, I wasn't sure how it all worked. It's certainly not stopping people from smoking in public
