I agree and I do not think he will ever touch this list again. I think his career will be like Graham after his injury. Good but never at the level they once played at in their early career.

I agree. I have a bad feeling about him going forward.

I dont see why. He was never overly reliant on speed. His abilty to catch the ball and separate using his physicality will still be there.
He doesnt have to be the record setting Thomas. Teams cant afford to focus solely on him with Landry and Olave. He'll be fine

I think he's still a top 10 WR, but I also have no issue with anyone keeping him out of their top 10 considering how the last 2 years have gone for him. Then you add the fact that you're going from Brees to Winston; and adding more reliable targets.
Just looking at last year's stats, he'd need 100 receptions, 1100 yards, 9/10 TDs to be considered top 10. Those are all doable if he stays healthy for the year; but is also logical why execs/coaches would keep him out

WRs get forgotten about quickly in the NFL. One minute youre on top of the world, next minute you are behind one and two year players. WR's who stay elite for a long time are very rare. Dont think Thomas is one of them. I think he will be good for a few more years but his peek explosiveness is over.

How much explosiveness you need to run a slant, hook or drag route because that's what he do.

The context of the OP had me thinking you'd posted this.

Dude has barely played for 2 years. If he’s still top 10, he’ll have to prove it on the field. The NFL is absolutely a “but what have you done for me lately?” league.

He was doing pretty well even with the injury but it definitely affected him. Hasn't taken a snap since the surgery and rehab. By the time he hits the field he would have been out at least a season and a half. How can anyone form a decent opinion from zero evidence. It is the dog days of the NFL season.

Lol all of those routes require substantial explosiveness to run them at an elite NFL level.

Can't be a top 10 WR if you dont play
Posted on 7/13/22 at 4:29 pm to Olderthandirt
we'll see if he is or not. he wasn't last year for obvious reasons, so we'll see if he can pick up where he left off.

Deshaun Watson hadn't played in how long but is still a top 10 Quarterback.
So....
So....

You have to actually PLAY AS A RECIEVER to be ranked lol

I would argue that he shouldn't be.
I would have ranked all of the following over Deshaun at this point:
Lamar Jackson
Patrick Mahomes
Joe Burrow
Aaron Rodgers
Tom Brady
Josh Allen
Matt Stafford
Russel Wilson
Dak Prescot
Kyler Murray
plus maybe Justin Herbert, Ryan Tannehill, and Derek Carr

I expect him to be a top 10 talent at WR.

Agree gotta prove himself all over

I mean, he’s missed 26 games the past 2 years. There’s no way you can justify putting him in the top 10 right now. Especially with how good receivers are now coming out of college with how much they throw the ball at that level. A lot more guys are more polished at route running and other facets. Now, they’re not all gonna be Jefferson and Chase their 1st years—it may take a year to catch up with the intellectual part, blocking, etc…—but the curve to be great is not nearly as long as it used to be. So 22/23-year-old freaks are gonna continue to displace the 27/28+ year olds at the back end of these lists.
However, I think Mike Thomas is one of the most competitive dudes in the league and will thrive on the hate/doubt and ball out with a huge chip on his shoulder this year.

Put it this way, he may not be worth the money he's actually getting anymore.
We'll see in a couple months.
