Apparently not. Fried and Strider were nowhere near their best this week, whereas Peterson and Bassitt were out of their minds, especially Peterson. That's as good of a game as he will pitch all season.

Loser of the division likely has to play the dodgers so how we matchup in the postseason might not matter either way TBQH

I'd take our 7-deep SPs over your 7-deep SPs in a heartbeat. You are free to disagree but I'm familiar with your guys.

No, you are clearly not familiar, at all. In fact, you don't even seem familiar with your own pitchers. Carrasco and Megill have not been good. Anderson hasn't been great for us this year, and Morton's numbers aren't what they need to be, but I'll take him over either of Carrasco and Megill, and I'll take him over Bassitt, who's only been so-so, when Charlie is on, which he had been until today. Charlie was a slow starter last year, as well. Kyle Wright has pitched like an All Star all year, and has been our most consistent starter from the beginning of the season. Fried is a top 5 pitcher in the game. Strider has been dominant, and has one of, if not the highest strikeout percentage in baseball, which tells you something about his stuff. And Soroka was already a top 10, maybe top 5 pitcher in the game before the Achilles injuries. He has to show that he can knock the rust off, but if we're strictly talking about ability when healthy (which is what you are counting on with DeGrom), he is better than anything the Mets have outside of their top two.

The Braves can not only match your number 3 (Walker) with their number 3, but they can match him with at least 4 guys, if we include a healthy Soroka, and the Braves are unquestionably better with the bottom of their rotation. As for Muller, he's no worse than Megill, but he certainly has an upside much higher. He's going to stay in Gwinnett this year, unless they have an emergency need for him. It worked for Kyle Wright last year, and it appears to be working for Muller right now, as he has been pretty much dominating the international league. The only question for him has been command, and they will let him work that out.

Imagine admitting the Braves are a high strikeout home run hitting team, then later on in the same discussion citing BATTING AVERAGE in an argument lmfao

Well it takes words to respond to words. Everything can't just be a verbal/written tennis volley.

Imagine being such a clueless hack, that you don't read where I stated that he's a low average guy "with little power to make up for it".

You know what makes a low batting average tolerable? Making your hits leave the park. Everyone wants the best of both worlds, and the Braves have enough guys who hit for average, but those who don't can still make a big impact.

Just looked it up because I was curious. Peterson went 7 with 2 earned against the Marlins and 6 with 2 earned against the Giants. Not Braves level lineups, but they were better outings against solid lineups.

Says the guy who doesn’t just cite OPS.

Hey just for future reference how about you put a couple dozen more commas than you already have in your paragraphs, might make it easier to read

So can the Mets. Would I bet on either? No. But it’s not unwinnable. Any team can beat anyone else in October.

Wouldn't include them with the Braves and Dodgers. They were just extremely fundamentally sound, and played small ball. Pitching staff yes, but they were near the bottom of the league in homers. But that team is an outlier for teams winning the world series.

Teams like them and what the Mets are trying to do used to be what you wanted from a baseball team. I don’t think this Mets team is even close to that Royals team pending any acquisitions though

Yeah let's not get ahead of ourselves.

The Braves and the Dodgers are the class of the NL.

You're right.

I was citing them more for their deep pen that won them that WS then their offense, which like you said was definitely an outlier

Loss sucked but this was our 16th straight game. They haven't had a day off in over 2 weeks, and don't get one til the all star break.

Does an off day really going to help? Not always!
