Farrell takes Arch to the Woodshed

quote:

"(Arch is a) high three star if the last name is Smith. Throw in the Manning name, you get to a four star. I'm not sure if you get to five, though. Every time I watch other quarterbacks in this class it knocks Arch down in my head."

Y’all think this take is shenanigans or legit?

Truth- Sark may as well start drinking again if he’s hitching his wagon to Arch. He struggles to stand out in church league.

He overthrows a lot in his highlights.

He will sit for at least 2 years behind Ewers. Then who knows what happens. Might end up at Tulane.

I don’t know, MF also thought Fournette was slow. Probably the last opinion I would take on these things.

Mannings are better in the pros than they are in college

People forget that Eli redshirted his first year at Ole Miss. I think Arch has the potential to be a solid player, but he will likely not play until his sophomore year, especially with Ewers there.

I think that's him swinging the pendulum back the other direction too far.

I think he's in the middle. A middle of the road 4 star with solid physical attributes, but played weak competition and still had average film and there a lot of unknowns because of that.

He's not a 5*, much less the overall #1 player. He's also not a 3* simply because of his physical attributes and pedigree.

Eli also came out as a 3 star QB, not the number 1 overall player in the nation.

Has absolutely nothing to do with the type of player either is/was.

But it actually furthers my point, rather than refuting it.

3 star is an exaggeration, he's a 4 star imo

But to rank him above guys like Malachi Nelson, Dante Moore, Nico, Jackson Arnold...I find it hard to believe. These guys move better than Manning and throw balls that are just as good or even better.

No, dummy. It doesn’t. MF is saying Arch is overrated. You said even Eli sat the bench. Eli sat the bench because he needed time, as reflected by his ranking.

Arch is the number 1 overall recruit in the nation and a 5 star. One would expect such a player to compete for immediate PT based on his outlook as a 5 star. If he was appropriately ranked on his actual talent instead of his name, you would then expect him to sit a few years and maybe become a starter or career back up

Catching on now?

Yea, I think he has the arm talent to justify being a 4*. The lack of competition, production and showcases shouldn’t have him even being considered in 5* range much less a generational level #1 overall recruit. There have been guys that were knocked for much less in the past.

Ewers and Manning both ranked in the tie of players as the #1 recruits so far this century

Maybe Arch has IT, or maybe he doesn’t. To this point in his high school career he hasn’t shown it. Maybe he hasn’t had to.

There are several hungry, hard working, super high level QBs in this next class. Name has helped Arch tremendously.
