Allow this? We encourage it.
Have you heard of the EB-5 program? For approx. $500K "investment" foreign nationals, including the Chinese, can get a Green Card or U.S. residency.
A crazy amount of Manhattan real estate is owned by foreigners under this program and otherwise, sending real estate prices sky high, and not affordable even for the upper middle-class ($2 Million for a 2 bedroom apartment).
All this is supported by obviously by the real estate industry and also the NYC government, since it pumps their coffers (even though they supposedly support affordable housing
).

Once you realize we aren't the we you think we are. Your government doesn't recognize you or I as their fellow countrymen like most Americans would assume. This country is mostly just a charade. We are simply a piece of land owned by a bunch of global elite oligarchs, and they let us stay here and live as their serfs as long as we don't rock the boat.
In exchange they have provided us a certain level of comfort and quality of life to placate all of us, which has worked to keep the masses of this country fairly docile and soft.
