I have sympathy for her being a political prisoner, but she also knowingly broke the law in fricking Russia during a heightened time of animosity. I can't imagine being that stupid or needing to smoke a little weed that damn bad.

I agree she acted stupidly. She probably believed believe that foreign pro athletes were not subject to the same set of laws as the average Russian, which is the case in many places. Also a very unfortunate time to be acting dumb as an American in Russia. Nobody deserves to be held hostage and used as a bargaining chip like she has though. It's fricked up and doesn't seem like she'll be getting any outside help.

Is she really thou? I get that the Russians are using her and taking advantage of the situation but she created this situation. Her and her wife and US officials say well she is using the oil for medical reasons. That is all fine and good but she is in Russia and it is illegal there and she knew it. She is not a political prisoner. She is a criminal drug addict under Russian Law. Putin even clarified that issue. It is NOT "political".
