You can do some of the legwork yourself by buying an outlet tester and watching a couple youtube videos on how to wire a receptacle. Some might be an easy fix- like a loose connection. Others where the wire might be broken somewhere else, I would go ahead and hire someone to fix/figure out/sweat up in the attic for.

I had the same problem- bought a 1970s home last year and 4 outlets didnt work. Called Home360 and had them all fixed for a reasonable price- a couple hundred or so.
