His attorneys would have actually convinced all 12 he wasn't guilty of murder due to lesser included charges.

For another example, a 10-2 conviction on 2nd degree murder doesn't mean those 2 didn't think the guy killed the person, they may have thought he was guilty of manslaughter, and so on.
