So if the mother *wants* the fetus, anyone killing it is charged with murder?

But if the mother *doesn't want* the fetus, she can kill it, or enlist others to help her kill it, and that's healthcare?


I can't think of any other times in human history where determining a person's right to live based on how much other people value that life has ended badly...

That's where your confusion is. A fetus is not a person. A person is defined by a brain, so a fetus, lacking the physical infrastructure necessary to have a "self", cannot achieve personhood.
