Voyageurs National Park is similar but you can rent houseboats or a fishing boat. Would recommend getting a permit soon if you’re interested.

Or really just pick any lake north of Minneapolis and you would be good.

More towards August will be warmer and more swimming friendly weather. By mid September, nights can easily be in the 40s consistently.

I'm strongly considering this at some point. Would be awesome to have days in the 60-70s to fish in August but sit around a camp fire in the 40-50s at night.

The only problem is they are so far north, 4.5 hours from Minneapolis.

I'm starting to look somewhere closer to Toronto or maybe Lake Champlain next to Montreal we could fly into.

The Canadian border at Lake of the Woods and Voyeagers NP is 25 hour drive for me. I enjoy a good road trip but I don't want to do 50 hours of driving this trip.

Getting there is tough. I almost included that but my post was already long enough.

Door county is also great and an easy drive if you fly into Green Bay. We went last August and the weather was amazing. Warm afternoons (kids swimming) but a light jacket needed at night.

View of Sister Bay

Al Johnson’s. Touristy but worth going to, and their beer garden next door is nice and kid friendly.

Breakfast at Al Johnson’s. Worth it but go early.

Door Country Brewing is worth a stop. Pebble beach is also worth a stop. Public walk-in beach, not as busy as other beaches due to the rocks but tons of kids swimming.

America, just because.

We stayed between Sister Bay and Ephraim at a cheapish bed and breakfast. Can stay in Sister Bay for walking access to stores and shops but we were <5 min drive and it worked just fine. This area also books up quick.
