. . . . . . . we ran KW straight into the line 3 times following SC timeouts.

If CS is in the game on those calls we score. If we fake the dive and pitch outside to KW, we score. If we do play action and toss to the TE, we score. If we bring in Colt David on 4th down we score. Maybe our coaches couldn't figure that out?

or maybe they were trying to run out the clock with class?

Well then why run it when there is no possibility at a first down, allowing you to extend the clock? Why not just kneel it on first through third? Same effect as a pointless rush and it offers less of a chance of a fumble. We were trying to score but in a safe way that ensured us milking the clock, it was smart.

Second, why are you so convinced that CS would have scored and not Keiland? Keiland had a great game and has just as much ability as Scott, if not moreso.

My point was: who gives a shite? Its a football game. When in doubt, you should always go for the score, and worry about the other teams "feelings" last. If its 56-3 late in the fourth or something along those lines then its different, but its ridiculous to bitch about a game within one or two scores, regardless of clock time. The way the polls and the BCS work, nobody should really be bitching about teams scoring points to let voters know they weren't a play or two away from losing.

Personally, I wanted us to punch it in on first through third, but on 4th I think the right call was made since that kneel down in itself served to end the game for us.

Not to mention that I was offering examples of Miles doing essentially the same thing as Richt to see if this douchebag would condemn his own team for similar actions or if he just has some hatred for Richt.

.......so...dude......go frick yourself.

I thought this was going to be about the 11 or 12 arrests of his Dawgs since January... Seems like he provides good guidance for his players.

dude, we tried to rush it into the endzone on first through third down. We kneeled it when it was obvious that an attempt at a score would be classless. One second on the clock.

Its 3 xtra points, who gives a shite? What about Miles calling for a fake punt in the 4th quarter when we were crushing Miami in the Peach Bowl?
now vindication is a different story....otherwise it was classless to me doing stuff like this

There were about 17 seconds left when that field goal was kicked. What happens if they just run the clock down that far and turn it over and Vandy scores a TD? Then what? It was a smart play.

And I think Richt is not a very good coach.
vandy had no time outs left and uga kicked IT AND IT WAS 4TH down but vandy was out of time outs and uga could have eaisly run out the clock....kneel on it...game over....vandy could have blocked the fg, picked up the ball and gone to the house to set up overtime or lose on a 2 pt conversion because of stupidity on richts part....

There were nine seconds left in the game. If they take a knee, then Vandy gets the ball back. He kicked a field goal to make the score look better, AND to go up 2 scores and clinch the win. It is not a dick move at all. It was an early game. Half of the voters didn't watch it and didn't care. They just looked at the score. Double-digit wins sound nice.
it was 4th down but run out the clock and win the game kneel on the ball with time left.....

Overexaggerate much? Sheesh. It's only been 10 arrests since January. 9 and 10 were today. Two players one DUI and one driving without a license.

Wow...anyone calling Mark Richt an a-hole for kicking a field goal in an attempt to get his kicker's confidence up when it's fourth down and he can't run the clock out is pretty much completely stupid.

Totally agree, I watched that game, UGA needed to prevent a miracle TD that could tie the game with twenty-two ticks left when 4th down, and more importantly has a struggling Kicker, that needed a boost of confidence by a close gimme kick, especially when heading into BR for an anticipated close battle with LSU..Richt made the right call on multiple levels.

LOL. 2 choices in that situation. Kneel on it, Give Vandy the ball with time for 1 or 2 plays (what happens if they score a TD to tie it up?) or kick the FG and put the game completely out of reach.

You're not very bright.
NO.......IF YOU WOULD HAVE WATCHED THE GAME YOUD KNOW THE OPTED TO FOR THE FG AND IT WAS 4TH DOWN but with 22 ticks left richt called a timeout to kick the fg when he didnt need to..all he had to do was run out the clock...instead he wanted to give his kicker practice???...come on...that was dangerous if you ask me.....VANDY HAD NO TIME OUTS LEFT.....KNEEL ON IT AND WIN......HE DIDNT....MY arguement isnt running up the score...its about richt putting himself in front of the team and risking his team when their was no need to........bottom line......any play you run when their is no need to except taking a knee is putting your team at risk......many posters here either dont read the posts and/or dont have a clue as to what is being talked about......

..if u would have followed th egame closely you wuld have known there was no need what so ever for the fg to win....

your not very bright

How is Richt selfish? I'm not a huge fan of the guy, but it's not like he threw a long pass at the end of the game. And there was time left on the clock. If Georgia didn't get a first down, it would have been Vandy's ball. They had to kick the field goal. What should he have done?
again it was on 4th down but richt called a timeout when he could of ran out the clock.... and vandy was out of time outs........he put his team at risk of it being blocked and vandy getting a return to tie the game

1.) if he kneeled it he coulda fumbled the snap? there is considerable risk on any play so this is dumb
2.) who cares

80,000+ in the stands and the 22 players knew LSU was going to run out the score....USC sold out on the run and had all 11 in the box...LSU could have easily scored on play action but chose not to. Sure LSU was going to try to score running the ball with 11 defenders playing the run. Not a classless act.

im usually mild mannered on these forums, but you are so fricking wrong and ignorant on this issue it's pathetic. first of all Richt ALWAYS sits on what he's got when a win is in hand. he has NEVER EVER gone for for style points. NOT ONE frickING TIME - got it?

in this case our true frosh fg kicker had missed his first two fg attempts and i bet richt wanted to give him a chance to get his head on straight before we come to br. if you recall during our last trip to tiger stadium our kicker missed 3 fgs. a-hole.

i aint talking about style points......im talking about his selfish move to put his team at risk when there was no need to.....

i agree totally with you about why he wanted to do it....but your answer is in your reply.......again the down was 4th down but richt called time out to stop the clock with 22 ticks left ...they could have run the clock out cause vandy had no more time outs.....but yet richt wanted to get his kicker some experience??....that is the stupidest thing i ever heard.....how about vandy blocking it and vandy returning it for a td and making the 2 pt conversion....everybody in the state of georgia would have wanted richt on a plate!

Style points is killing us in the polls right now. We lost UGLY to Florida. Not a huge lost in the grand scheme of things but it was a beat down.

Yeah, I tend to do that. Not directed at you.

And for those clamoring about it not being fourth down, this play-by-play chart of the fourth quarter disagrees with you.

EDIT: Wow, now people are calling Miles classless for running the ball on first, second, and third down in the redzone on the final possession under a minute...instead of kneeling. WOW. You guys need to stop being babies. I guarantee you if I were in Miles's shoes I would have tried to score.

i stand corrected....it was on 4th down.......but richt called a timeout with 22 seconds left instead of running the clock out....pretty selfish to me....he put his team at risk....bad move......
