IDK. I guess it depends on if those people are taking their careers with them and are required to travel at least 50% of the time for business.
I'm moving to south Louisiana from Chicago, and the proximity to MSY (and BTR as a nearby backup) were major factors in my decision to move to south Louisiana. My job would be nearly impossible in a more isolated mid sized MSA with slower air service - like Monroe, Augusta, Corpus Christi, Alexandria (La), Huntsville, El Paso, or Shreveport.

don't know about now, although I have a good idea, but all of those cities used to be served by large jet service and multiple airlines, giving a pretty good choice of service

for me, i'd love to WFH 24/7 and live miles and miles from a local airport. But that's not reality for many professionals and wouldn't be for me either if i'm honest. (i have to travel occasionally for work)
