The redesign looks damn cool except for the digiflauge paint job on it.
Should have gone Damascus.

I hope it is more reliable than a BMW or they are screwed!

If people did PMCS on their BMWs at the level first world militaries do on their tanks they wouldn't have near the issues they have this is coming from a 25 plus year owner of M cars that owns more than one 10mm socket.

Can we talk about the general wisdom of making a tank worth millions of dollars when a $50k rocket can take it out?

That’s a badass looking tank

Hope they don’t brew up as well as the Leopard II’s that the Turkish bought. The Kurds were lighting them up.

After we discuss the wisdom of spending over a million dollars to train a soldier a 50 cent bullet can take out.
Your line of thinking means there are no weapons worth fielding.

Interesting the Germans allowed the tank to be called the “Panther”, which harkens back to Nazi Germany.
For a long while, Germany did anything and everything to distance themselves from that history. What has changed?

To the Armour guys...so what is that skeletal main gun support structure utilized for.
Looks like they have some sort of sensor array in there.

My son’s friend’s grandfather (who recently passed away at 103) singlehandedly took out a Panzer Mark V. He was one of only 5 men credited with singlehandedly taking one out. Disabled it with a grenade then dropped another grenade inside.
The guy was a true American badass - the most decorated officer in the 82nd Airborne. Fought in the Battle of the Bulge, Operation Market Garden, took part in the Waal River. crossing...Cliff from Cheers played him in A Bridge Too Far.
His book is a great read if you like WWII stuff - it’s a real first-hand account of his battles.

Maybe Rheinmetall did it to tweak the French (especially given it is being debuted in Paris) because Rheinmetall was unhappy with their position in the Franco-German MGCS initiative.
Displaying this tank has to be a bee in the bonnet for Nexter and Krauss Maffei Wegmann.

No, it won't. Did you miss the part about the active defense system?

None of the tanks in Ukraine, either Russian or Ukrainian, have the active defense systems we, the Israelis, and now the Germans have.
The Israeli system (which we use) has already been battle tested and proven very effective stopping any type of ATGM.

Tanks are cool and all, but if the Ukraine fiasco has taught the world anything, it's that tanks need air superiority and plenty of troop support to be effective.
Well yeah. Tanks need infantry, artillery, and air. Infantry needs tanks, artillery, and air. Air needs infantry, artillery, and tanks. It’s called combined arms warfare for a reason.
