You should definitely go up to Polebridge.

Tell me about Polebridge. Why should we go there?

Take the lift up at Whitefish Mountain Resort and grab a beer up top. Great views and a fun ride/up down. You go right over the mountain bike trails and cool to watch them go down (or do the MB trails yourself!).
It's a ways out, but cool drive from Whitefish, though it's mostly gravel road. It gets you way out away from everything and very close to CA border. Cool little Merchentile and restaurant/bar with surprisingly good food and drinks. No electricity. It's definitely worth the drive one afternoon.
I had read about the GTTSR drive and seen plenty of pictures, but it's truly incredible scenery.
Renting a boat on Lake McDonald is surprisingly cheap and a great couple hours to spend on the water.

I'm going later this summer and staying near West Glacier. Is it worth the day trip to Many Glacier or would we be better off biking Camas or Inside North Fork Road and renting a boat for Lake McDonald?
Just afraid Many Glacier is too far and will be a long day. This will probably be the last full day of our trip.

Basically what speckledawg said. Its a part of the park not many people go, and its a beautiful, desolate drive. Staying in Whitefish will give you pretty easy access to Polebridge. You can go to Bowman Lake, and hike or just hang around the lake. Its gorgeous. Here are some of my pics from the Bowman Lake:

I have a half day in West Glacier that I am trying to decide what to do. Would you recommend going to Polebridge and Bowman Lake or do the Lake McDonald river cruise and doing some hiking around the Lake McDonald. We plan to go biking in the afternoon out of and around Apgar.

You could hike to Avalanche lake in a half day.
