Of course this is exactly right and I am surprised you are getting so much pushback.
And, to an earlier poster, "storm" can mean the same thing as "assault." "They stormed the fort" or "They assaulted the fort."

Except, if it were “assault gun” it could be called angriffgewehr.
Just because words can be synonymous does not mean they are the same word
Storm = sturm
Assault = angriff
