Wow, I feel like somebody put up the Bat signal over Gothem City.... lol

Love researching this stuff...

While I have never ran across these. The first thing is that they are NOT CARDS... They are posters. They measure approximately 14" X 20". If you scroll down to the bottom you get this.

Identification POSTER (Sil) silhouette. No. 512 (Poster Number) 7/42 (the Date of Printing)

D.I.T. - A.A.F. Identification Unit
Dept Information T? (Most likely Training)
Army Air Forces
of course ID unit.

Obviously printing by and in the USA and the government.

Now the second set is totally different... SO most likely those were printing by another company and most likely British from earlier than '42 as the USA had not entered the War by the time the Germans were bombing Britian. Or it simply could have been contracted by someone other than the government as they are not as detailed..

Like I said. In all the guns shows and militaria shows I have never seen posters before. But that doesn't mean anything... But here is one on ebay going for $40...
LINK

Since they are not cards of Recognition Manuals, although they are highly detailed. The most common uses were by Instrutor going over the layouts and details of the planes to students in the classroms...

and then these posters adorned the walls of British Spotter Corps, Barracks of Pilots and gunners and anti aircraft crews. Anybody in uniform that would have needed to spot planes and Identidfy.. They probably were posted everywhere from Sleeping quarters, mess halls and ships.

Just because you guys got me started...

Then you had the more specilized training of the Aircraft Spotter Manual. They did this for ships too. It Looked just like it. This thing is highly informative really.

Now as to the cards....

Coca Cola printing millions of them and gave them to the troops and government.. It was advertising for the boys... But this is a real deck from the war.

But of course.. The US playing card company was not going to be undone..

There are tons of cards and playing cards for training purposes... I'll do more another time... gotta run...
