Mariners couldn’t find decent relief pitching. Every 9th inning was an adventure Bc they had no competent closer.

If not for a historically good Yankees dynasty they’d have won back to back rings. Just bad luck sometimes.
Exactly, its like Charles Barkley, Malone, etc having to deal with Jordan winning all the titles during their prime

Amazing with all the talent on those teams, the best they could do was win 2 playoff series.
-Manager: Lou Pinella (should be HOF)
So which is it?
Is he a shitty manager that wasted talent?
Or is he a HOFer?
Can't be both.

Yeah, as a Mariner's fan, I get reminded of this nightly when DirectTV runs the GOATbusters themed ad ... starring A-Rod, Junior, the Big Unit and David Arias, who you might know as David Ortiz. (He was Arias when he was in the M's organization.)
So, I get to watch the team we DO have nightly and then be reminded of the team we USED to have nightly as well.
Watching Edgar hit the double to score Junior in 1995 is my greatest in-person sports memory.

As talented as they were, the “could have been” honor goes to the Indians. They ‘95 squad was incredible from top to bottom, and the pitching wasn’t shabby. They just ran into one of the best pitching staffs ever that was in peak condition.
The ‘97 version was flawed, but THAT was the team that should have won. You could argue that an 86-win team had no business beating the Yanks or Orioles, but the talent and experience was there. That same logic applies to the 2000 Yanks.

Yeah I loved that 95 Indians team. Of all the years I rooted for the Braves and they lost, they had to win one at the Indians’ expense.
fricking Yankees.
fricking Yankees.

Ichiro didn’t play with most of these guys. Johnson, Griffey, and Arod were all gone by the 00s. Those three were only together for years right when Arod got to the majors. The Griffey crew couldn’t break through because their bullpen was historically bad

He had no talent in the bullpen.

I think about how those early 90's Expos were in the same boat.
The strike year killed that franchise. The Expos were good enough to win the World Series that year.
