I ended up buying a bright orange and reflective life jacket called a near shore vest. It's very light and hardly notice its on. After it was so hard to see a guy in bright red shirt in the water I gave up on my olive green one...

That's not a bad idea. Two of my three life jackets are camo. Now that I think about it, that's a terrible pattern for a life jacket. Might be time to invest on three bright new ones.

I have these too. Self-inflating, so when you're wearing them they're so light and thin.

They also perform a dual role for me because it holds my trolling motor remote close to my body and stops it from swinging around when I'm moving around the boat.

Highly highly recommend these. They're so comfortable you'll actually see me walking around the marina with it on because I don't even realize I still have it on.
